Song Name: Sakuranbo Kiss Song Artist: Kotoko Song Length: 1:59 Have you entered before: No Which have you entered: N/A Entry Name: "Kilgamayan" for both handle and username E-mail: robert_j_stratton@yahoo.com Genre: Anime - Story - When TM5 first rolled by, I wasn't sure I was going to enter, because not only do I have no clue how to make pad steps, but I didn't have a good song either. Of all the places to find inspiration, I got mine at 4chan. One of the more popular things zipping around the internet these days (mostly within the Anime communities) is the OS girls. I don't know what group of people came up with the idea or what group of artists decided to draw these girls, but I can safely say the internet is better off with them around. The most well-known Flash animation featuring these girls is "Troubled Windows", which features this song - The opening theme to "Colourful Kiss", a hentai game (of all things to DWI). 4chan linked me to a website where I could download the MP3 as well as some background art with characters from the game. Common sense hit me in the face like a brick and I realized I had found my TM5 entry with almost no effort on my part whatsoever. The song was there, the graphics were there. All I needed to do was make the steps. This was the result. Of course, I still have no clue how to make good pad steps. I'm strictly a keyboarder - and I have also never played a single Bemani game. I did get on a MAX2 machine once, but I failed Waka Laka Standard 15 seconds in so I don't count that as actually "playing". So to all the pad players, I beseech you - be nice. Please. :< - Stuff you *actually* want to know - BPM High - 140 BPM Low - 140 I use speed mods. What BPM should I base my decision on? - 140 (omg rly?) Banner - The Colourful Kiss logo (I think) Background - A few characters from Colourful Kiss (nothing more suggestive than bras - no hentai for u) CD Title - Roll art I found a while ago, edited by myself and (later) Spectere Artist for Colourful Kiss is unknown, sorry. Steps: Light - 5/Pad Standard - 6/Pad Heavy - 9/Pad Challenge - 10/Keyboard Special notes: - While the song is a steady 140 BPM throughout, watch out for the one stop late in the song. It appears during the third time through the chorus (after they've changed keys). After hearing the chorus two times already you can probably guess where it is based on how the song goes. Light steps in-depth: This was the last set of steps I made. Sadly, it came out harder than I wanted and ruins the potential for a good easy-medium-hard balance. Eh, what can you do. I guess Light players can think of this as a challenge song. Not much interesting happening here - not much air and no 16th runs. 8th runs of various sizes make appearances throughout the song, as do steady 4ths. As I don't play standard DDR steps I don't know how these are in comparison, but judging from the short bit of Waka Laka I saw they shouldn't be overly difficult. Like the heavy steps, these get progressively harder, though the change is easier to notice. Aside from one mini 16th run, these steps are rather straightforward as well. Nothing too complex. I felt freer to do what I wanted here since you had more time to turn to a desireable position, but I still kept an eye on the 8th runs. S - .481604 V - .541655 A - .384805 F - .025096 C - .020913 StepMania's predicted rating: 6.520072 My choice: 6 Heavy steps in-depth: This was the first set of steps I created. Originally I was making them based on textbook theory - I know of some pad maneuvers that are awkward (such as spins if they stop while your back is to the screen). For the most part the steps were textbook-easy. The problem is that they weren't me. I edited them a good deal to what they are now. They're more karaoke than what you see in DDR, which is what I specialize in. There are many short 16ths runs, but I made sure to stick to simplicity on those and there are also no jumps thrown in at the beginning or end of said runs (from what I rememeber). The steps get gradually harder as you go from the beginning to the end. S - .664446 V - .677069 A - .669226 F - .167307 C - .255143 StepMania's predicted rating: 8.691417 My choice: 9 Challenge steps in-depth: This was the second set of steps I made. These are KEYBOARD ONLY. Do not try to pad these. I don't really see why you would want to, because you have 3 other sets of pad steps to play with. They're not very hard for keyboard steps - if you don't play DWI or StepMania on a keyboard but do play BeatMania pretty well you shouldn't have any trouble passing them. I myself have scored a 95.6 mil AA with one hand. Most of the challenge of the song comes in the form of two things - jackhammers and jumps in 16th runs. At 140 BPM, however, neither are OMG THIS MAKE THE PLEDGE LOOK LIKE REMEMBER YOU hard. There are some consecutive 16th jumps, but they're not all over the place. No triples or quads - we're not playing IIDX. S - 1 V - 1 A - 1 F - .376440 C - .711053 StepMania's predicted rating: 9.927091 My choice: 10 Overall thoughts - This is only the second stepfile I've done that had Light throguh Challenge steps (not counting the DtK mini-series), and it's definitely much better than Arcade Computer Theme. It's a shame it's so unbalanced away from easy steps, but I'm willing to guess that most people taking part in this are at least somewhat good at the game so I'm not going to lose sleep over it. Definitely one of my best simfiles to date. Have an enjoy! Special Thanks: - Kotoko, for making such a cute and catchy song. - The people who created the OS girls. Me-tan kicks ass, and 2000 and XP are hot. Plus the Norton Antivirus doctor is funny. - 4chan. And not just for the song idea. :> - Whoever made Troubled Windows. Props, dude. If you haven't seen Trouble Windows, head on over to http://heika-love.cool.ne.jp/troubled_windows.html (Warning: It takes a while to load.) - Roll, for being my CD Title as well as my favorite character in any video game ever. Origianl, Caskett, .EXE. it doesn't matter. - Rabi~en~Rose, because she's hot too. If you've never watched Di Gi Charat or seen Rabi~en~Rose (or Dejiko), feel free to stab yourself in the ear with a spork for a full 10 minutes. Bonus points if you make a video of it and upload it somewhere for me to watch. - Me. I wouldn't be who I am without myself. - I could list tons of people from Bemanistyle and Flash Flash Revolution but I know I'll forget someone so I won't. Everyone I would've named knows I would've named them anyway. <3 you all.
